Doctors call off strike in Delhi

Nearly 1200 resident doctors of Safdarjung Hospital in the city, on an indefinite strike for two days demanding adequate security, on Wednesday (september 8) called off their agitation following assurances from authorities that their demand will be met. "The issue has been resolved amicably and the strike has been called off," N K Mohanty, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, said after a meeting with the agitating doctors.

'Anti-outsourcing in US, a worrying trend'

The Indian Information Technology (IT) industry has criticised the move by Ohio state in the US to ban outsourcing. In a major blow for Indian IT companies that is likely to have far reaching implications, the US state of Ohio banned outsourcing of government IT and back-office projects to offshore locations such as India. This has also raised fears of similar moves by other American states. TCS, which is India's largest software firm, is the only Indian company to operate out of Ohio.

Lahore HC adjourns hearing in spot-fixing case

The Lahore High Court adjourned a hearing into the spot-fixing allegations against Pakistani cricketers until September 22 after PCB chairman and the players failed to appear before the court on Tuesday (September 7). German Bakery case: Two arrested

Two people were arrested by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Wednesday (September 8) in connection with the German Bakery blast case in Pune. One of the accused, identified as Himayat Baig was arrested from Aurangabad, while thwe other suspect, identified as Bilal was arrested in Nashik. Police also claim to have recovered explosives from the duo. Baig is reportedly also wanted in a case related to the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).

6 wrestlers 'fail' India with doping taint

The six dope tainted wrestlers who last week had caused a major embarrassment to the country less than a month ahead of the Commonwealth Games also failed their 'B' sample tests conducted by National Anti-Doping Agency. The 'A' samples of the six wrestlers taken by NADA at Commonwealth Games trials had tested positive for stimulant methylhexanamine, which was added as a banned substance only this year by World Anti-Doping Agency.
