A prominent Muslim outfit has asked Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee to clear her stand on the Women's Reservation Bill after she neither opposed nor supported the Bill, but abstained from voting in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday evening.

Protesting the Rajya Sabha nod for the women's reservation Bill and the forcible eviction of their colleagues, members of the SP, RJD and JD(U) disrupted proceedings in Lok Sabha today but Mulayam Singh Yadav and Lalu Prasad declared they were "as of now" not considering a no-confidence motion against the government since they lacked the numbers.

A day after Trinamool Congress (TC) abstained from voting on women's reservation bill in Rajya Sabha, party supremo Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday night (March 10) met Congress President Sonia Gandhi and explained her party's stand. Banerjee, a key UPA constituent, and her party leader and Minister of State for Health Dinesh Trivedi held a 45-minute meeting with Gandhi at her residence, which was described as "very positive".
